Meet the team at the Finhaut Tourist Office

03 / 02 / 2026 | 11:00

Every month, we meet with a partner from the Trient Valley. This month, we head to Finhaut to discover the dynamic team at the Tourist Office, who work hard every day to welcome visitors and residents, while developing exciting local projects.

A team passionate about the mountains

The Finhaut Tourist Office is currently run by three employees: Elise, Gaëlle and Maria. Elise joined the team in February 2024, while Gaëlle and Maria arrived in the summer of 2025.

During the summer, activities also extend to the Emosson dam thanks to the Information Point, a strategic location for guiding and informing visitors.

What brings the team together? A shared passion for the mountains and mountain activities: trail running, hiking, ski touring... These shared interests also give rise to a few sporting ‘after-work’ activities in the region.

A presence in the heart of the valley

Maria moved to Finhaut when she started working at the Tourist Office. The other members of the team travel to the valley by train, a means of transport that reflects the sustainable accessibility of the area.

Three areas of focus serving the community and visitors

The Tourist Office has three main missions.

The first is to provide local services to the population: managing the Post Office branch, selling train tickets and combined ski offers, and disseminating local information through the community newspaper Finhaut Parleur and information screens.

The second focus is naturally dedicated to tourism. The team handles bookings for visits to the Emosson dam, promotes local stakeholders such as village societies, and creates projects within the municipality. These include the Été Musical music festival and the Festival du Film Vert film festival, organised in collaboration with the Trient Valley Regional Nature Park.

Finally, the Maison du Tourisme supports the municipality in its economic and tourism development projects. At present, significant work is being carried out on accommodation offerings in order to find partners, particularly in the field of concierge services. At the same time, the team is also working on redesigning the signage and information panels throughout the municipality, to improve reception, orientation and clarity for both visitors and residents.

Memories to be experienced on site

When asked about a memorable experience with their visitors, the team prefers to invite people to discover it for themselves: stopping by the Maison du Tourisme is enough to see the photo of the “guests of the year” and get a sense of these sometimes unusual, often touching encounters. What they especially appreciate, however, are the daily exchanges with the residents of Finhaut and with tourists passing through the valley — simple moments that give their work its true meaning.

The team's must-sees

No visit to Finhaut would be complete without trying the VerticAlp Emosson experience and visiting the dam, followed by a gourmet break with a rösti at Le Vieux-Emosson or a croûte at the Restaurant du Barrage.

Another event to note: the 2026 Musical Summer, which already promises wonderful cultural evenings at altitude.

Their favourite spot in the Trient Valley

If we had to choose just one walk, it would be the Balcon du Mont-Blanc. Starting from Finhaut, the trail leads to the Fenestral mountain pasture, a peaceful and spectacular place where the PALP Festival will be held in September.

It's also an opportunity to observe the cows on the mountain pasture, whose milk is used to produce cheese at the Fromagerie du Tilleul and its Cabanon in Finhaut. And according to the team, their fondue is simply exceptional.
