VERBIER FESTIVAL UNLTD – classical violin
Finhaut
The 19 Jul 2025
20:00
This summer, the Verbier Festival UNLTD is coming to the Trient Valley.
As part of this event, the Municipality of Finhaut has the honor of hosting an exceptional concert from the Creative Project Development Residency. Through an innovative program featuring unexpected encounters, pieces inspired by distant traditions, and contemporary creations, violinists Laure Chan and Sophie Trobos — currently in residence at the Verbier Festival Academy — create a dialogue between two bows, driven by listening, imagination, and the joy of sharing.
Franco-Sino-British violinist Laure Chan has performed in some of the world’s greatest venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. She recently made her solo debut with the BBC Concert Orchestra and at the Berlin Philharmonie. A passionate composer, she blends her classical training with diverse styles and cultures, releasing recordings of both standard repertoire and original music. Named a Rising Star by BBC Music Magazine and featured in Classic FM’s 30 Under 30, Laure has won international awards in Paris, Berlin, and New York, as well as the Oxford Philharmonic Music Director’s Prize and top prizes from the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music. She earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Artist Diploma from the Royal College of Music, studying with Itzhak Rashkovsky, Radu Blidar, and Gabrielle Lester. Laure has been mentored by Maxim Vengerov, Nicola Benedetti, Isabelle van Keulen, and Pinchas Zukerman.
Sophie Trobos is an Austrian violinist, founder and director of the ensemble inn.wien. She studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Christian Altenburger and completed an Erasmus exchange at the CNSMD in Lyon with Marianne Piketty. Sophie has served as solo violinist with orchestras such as the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester and the Webern Symphony Orchestra. She regularly performs in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Italy, and has collaborated in chamber music with artists including Reinhard Latzko, Christian Altenburger, and Jasminka Stancul. Alongside her performing career, she is involved in artistic management and production, notably with the LOISIARTE Festival and the Kufstein Masterclass, which she founded.
